I think that winston realizes that his mother always loved him no matter what he did. No matter if was selfish or if he wasn't. I think he learned that love is always there. I also think he realized that he felt that way about julia. I wouldn't believe obrien he is altogether a little bit to sneeky for me to believe.
He realizes that love can't be taken away, no matter how hard the party tries they can't stop him from loving. His mother never stoped loving him and his sister, she was always loyal to them. I'm not sure if i would trust Obrien he seems alittle fishy. Winston wants someone with him so bad that he will trust anyone i think.
