Part 1 chpts. 3-4

I have thought about the Party slogan, "Who controls the past controls the future; who controls the present controls the past" and how Winston's job relates to this. He is making the past change and this is why he is beginning to question the system he is actually a part of. His personal memories of his mother are fuzzy. This seems to be how Orwell introduces the idea of altering the past to us. What are our records of the past? How do we know they are accurate? What are your thoughts after reading chapters 3 and 4?

Changing the govnt is a very scary idea. The fact that Winson Changes it so that Big Brother is aways right. Is so wrong.Things like wipping out people from even exsisting is scary and makes me hope we never get to that point. That much power in the hands of anyone is to dangerous

It seems like the world he lives in now is a made up world because they have changed the past so much. Sometimes we just have to believe what we read in are textbooks. and believe it is history and they haven't gone back and changed it. We don't know that, they can say whatever they want and we just believe because we weren't there. It seems like winston is doubting because he is finding out the truth about what goes on in this little world he lives in. I think it is interusting what kinds of questions it brings to mind in todays world.

I just had to respond to Melissa in case she felt that no one is reading this. Big Brother is always watching.
