Pt I Chpts. 7 & 8
Who are the proles and where do they fit into Winston's world? Why do you think Winston has such disturbing thoughts at the end of Ch. 8?
We are at Capitol Reef Field Station to learn, experience and explore. Here are our comments.

I think the proles are the poor people. It seems like the older proles are the men that fought in the war. I think he has disturbing thoughts because he knows what he is living in is a lie and he wants to get out but he doesn't quite know how.
he is deffeintly concerned that the though pollice is out to get him... he worries because he knows he has, to them commited a crime...the proles are people that are intelegent but are uneducated to the standards of the rest thy have there place in the hands on fields, like an electrition, massage therapist ect.... intellegent but not hightly educated
I have mixed Feeling for the proles, It seems like they could have the most power and could run Oceania and lead a revolt and in that way i think they could be good. However I don't like the fact that they are so ignorant to the oppression that is being put on them.
I think Winston just wants to give up.So his mind is recalling these evil thoughts.
